Honoring a Redwood Nursery founder and seven-year breast cancer survivor.
Behind every family business is a story of dedication, perseverance, and love. At Redwood Nursery, that story begins with Jacqueline and Manuel Vales.
Together, they founded a garden center that would become an important part of their family and community. For 30 years, Jacqueline helped run the business while raising three children and caring for Manuel following a stroke when he was just 50 years old.
Today, Jacqueline is 84, Manuel is 86, and both still make occasional visits to the garden center they helped build.
But Jacqueline’s story is about more than the business.
She is also a seven-year breast cancer survivor.
As October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re especially proud to celebrate Jacqueline’s strength and resilience.
The accompanying photograph captures Jacqueline heading in for her annual checkup, holding a white pumpkin decorated with a pink ribbon and one powerful word: HOPE.
It’s a fitting symbol for a woman who has given so much to her family, her business, and the people around her.
Jacqueline’s legacy lives on in the garden center, in the family she raised, and in the countless lives she has touched along the way.
From all of us at Redwood Nursery: Thank you, Jacqueline. We love you, we celebrate you, and we’re proud of everything you represent. 💗
Please join the Redwood family in celebrating Jacqueline and sending her your warmest wishes!
