Bower & Branch, Audubon Society Partner to Promote Bird-Friendly Plants

Bower & Branch, a group of independent growers and garden retailers throughout North America, has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with the National Audubon Society, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to conservation. The partnership promotes native trees and plants identified by Audubon that are beneficial for birds under the Bower & Branch brand.

We have a real and practical opportunity to lead our industry towards a truly beneficial and exciting future where the real value of our products and services is clearly communicated to and desired by consumers,” says Don Eaton, Founder and Chairman of the Board at Bower & Branch.

Licensed Audubon Native trees and plants will be available to consumers through Bower & Branch Garden Retailers and on bowerandbranch.com beginning in 2020, as well as on other Bower & Branch affiliate partners’ websites. Audubon.org will also direct consumers interested in planting native trees and plants to Bower & Branch garden retailers and/or Bowerandbranch.com.

“Plants for Birds, a program of Audubon’s Coleman and Susan Burke Center for Native Plants, helps create bird-friendly communities – a key Audubon initiative – by making native plants the first choice for all outdoor spaces, from windowsills to community parks,” says John Rowden, Senior Director of Bird-Friendly Communities at the National Audubon Society. “Native plants not only create green spaces and resilient habitat that provide abundant natural food for birds, but they also help conserve water and reduce the impacts of climate change for all of us.”

“Bower & Branch and its community of growers is a natural partner for Audubon and our robust network of chapters, nature centers, and members,” says Jose Carbonell, Chief Marketing Officer of the National Audubon SocietyTogether, we will create a vast system of green spaces featuring native plants across the country, which is vital to protecting birds and the places they need.

Choosing to grow native trees and plants provides much-needed food and shelter to local and migrating birds. The National Audubon Society hopes to encourage more people to choose plants that are better for birds in their home gardens, backyards, and public spaces. Bower & Branch’s purpose of reintroducing native trees into the American landscape makes this a natural connection. All trees and plants will be exclusively certified and grown only by Bower & Branch network growers for the Audubon Plants for Birds program.

“Our brands and missions are well aligned, and we are excited to promote bird-friendly native trees and plants to consumers alongside Audubon,” says Colby Frongillo, VP of Brand Management of Bower & Branch. Garden Retailers, members of the Bower & Branch Network, benefit greatly through this new partnership with exclusive positions and advantagesThe product creation and consumer marketing will be developed and managed by Bower & Branch and Audubon.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to work with the National Audubon Society toward such a great cause. We are even more thrilled at the dynamic marketing projects already in the works, such as Audubon Landscape Designs, Audubon Garden Gifts, and more. Through our exclusive partnership, all consumers will be inspired and guided to plant creatively and natively, Frongillo says.
